Run some trial battles before presuming that two-weapon combat is weaker. In my experience, it just isn't the case. it is particularly suited to rangers and rogues, both of whom get bonus damage.

I would be careful about increasing the skill points of the Ranger to 6 points per level...if you want to fully exploit the excellent skill selection the Ranger has put a high stat in intelligence....
